Description
16″ x 20″ photograph of 12 year old Cassius Clay, signed in blue marker by Muhammad Ali.
This photo of Muhammad Ali, then still known as Cassius Clay, was taken when he was only 12 years old. The posed image was for his fight against Ronnie O’Keefe on the WAVE-TV amateur boxing program, “Tomorrow’s Champions,” in November 1954, shortly after taking up the sport.
Clay was introduced to boxing by policeman and boxing trainer Joe Martin in 1954 after Clay, who was irate at having his bicycle stolen, had gone to the local police station and vowed to “whup” whoever was responsible for the theft.
Signed at an official paid private autograph session.
Affixed to the photograph is a numbered sticker from OA (Ali’s longtime former autograph agent).
Sold with Certificates of Authenticity from both The Autograph Source and independent third-party authenticator PSA/DNA.
